HOW TO REACH SUSTAINABLE MODEL OF SOCIAL SUPPORT TO POPULATION?

Strengthening of Palilula Municipality capacities in the sphere of giving social services and creating sustainable and integrated model `protection in community` at the very location, for the vulnerable groups in society, will be one of the strategic activities of new authorities in the following period. It will be realized thanks to the gained practice on the projects but also good cooperation of the Authorities of Palilula Municipality with Center for Social Work `Sveti Sava` in Nis. About the forms of cooperation spoke Boban Dzunic, president of Palilula Municipality and Zoran Jovic director of the Center.
According to the words of president Dzunic, Palilula Municipality with the City and authorized institutions support will develop the mechanisms of help to all the categories of society, establishing the system of social responsibility and responsible functioning towards the most vulnerable groups. We will go on with the activities on increasing capacities of our Administration in the form of allowing social services to creating sustainable and integrated model directed to creating better life conditions of socially jeopardized. Adopted quality standard obliges us here that we should apply it in our work – says Dzunic. President of Municipality and director of Center for Social Work agreed better cooperation and information exchange on realized regulations, services and demands of the most jeopardized population in Palilula Municipality.
With the realization of few projects, Municipal Administration determined that there are many people who need some sort of social protection and help in the territory of Palilula Municipality.
Almost every 14th resident of Palilula is older than 70 of age. According to official statistics 5061 people belong to this category. The number of services users of other type of social protection is 2245 while the number of children with certain type of invalidity is 23. These two categories belong according to Strategy of reducing poverty to most jeopardized categories, that each need special type of psycho-social and economic power.
Palilula Municipality has a need to spread the activities directed to the improvement of the position of socially jeopardized population. Because of small resources that have the organizations of local authorities including the City of Nis have, in order to help in the form of concrete financial help, in Palilula Municipality new solutions are wanted. Possibilities of permanent, systemic support to jeopardized category of population, by offering services at the terrain like social, legal, psychological supports are, medical services can be realized over the projects with the support of donors. That is why it is necessary to have permanent cooperation with the Center for social work but also with citizens` councils, i.e. councils of local communities, which founding is expected in near future, it is stated in Palilula Municipality. We are certain that the City will also recognize the efforts of our Municipal authorities in solving this matter.
